Uncorked co-founder / CEO Marcelino Alvarez spoke at Adobe’s 99U conference in New York earlier this year on the topic of how design can have a unifying effect on communities.

Alvarez linked Uncorked projects around the globe, from Fringe Diplomacy in Cuba and Lebanon to Safecast in Japan to the impact the studio is making at home in Portland, Oregon together with Autodesk on the PIE Shop with a series of simple observations on how other designers can impact communities.

99U has made the conference video available in full, so you can watch the talk below, or see any of the other great conference talks with transcripts at 99U’s site.

The Uncorked team extends it deep gratitude to all the fellow speakers, organizers, and volunteers that helped make this year’s 99U a noteworthy standout in the crowded calendar of design events.
